#23 Summary

Well, finished at last. I am a bit like the rabbit and the turtle, rushing by then slowing down and finally being the snail, but actually finishing, even though I am a little late.

I really enjoyed the learning process and wish I had time to devote to all of the fun things one can do. I will be using some of these in my personal life from now on. I need to write and play more to consolidate my learning.

2.0 has certainly opened up a number of new ideas and thoughts. Using Flickr, online image generators, Youtube, and the list goes on, has been great. Using the blog has been a challenge at times and I have not made it as pretty or played with the format as much as I would have liked. Time has been a problem, especially when using new technology. It has been a discovery, and once you realise you have to join a new application each time to actually complete the exercise, much easier and less frustrating.

I can see a number of uses for my new found skills in my personal and professional life. Our advanced internet classes will be revamped to include some exploration of the interesting sites we have discovered. I will be more open to new things and less distrustful of using technology in the future.

#22 ebooks

ebooks are a wonderful resource in that they can be downloaded and altered to suit the reader's requirements of print size, with audio or without. The initial cost of a set up would be huge and keeping up with downloading new titles expensive. I believe these costs will become more affordable.

I had to register with World ebook fair to download. Maybe one day the Library will use this facility instead of talking books on cd as cds have replaced tapes. Obviously there would be a cost involved for this.

#21 Podcasts

I had great fun looking at these. There are some fantastic tools available.

I finally was able to upload the Youtube video. Zofia very ably to finish before me and used the "very long" Mr Bean libary video that I discovered when we were in Play week with the online image generators. I am really pleased to be able to upload properly this time. It takes patience and joining yet another tool.

I have been using itunes to download songs for my son's business of making dvds for people for significant birthdays, weddings and to commemorate special events.

#18 & #19 Online applications & tools

This is rather overwhelming - it would be wonderful for travellers if Microsoft Word was not on the PC. I think a pro-forma resume would be a fantastic update and used by numerous people. The spreadsheet facilities would be useful if on business. These tools are a boon to all.

The self-publishing facilities of 2.0 are free and amazing. Multi-media facilities are available and you can create almost anything - books, calendars, the list is as endless as your imagination.

#16 & #17 Wikis

Wikis are a great way to share information. I particularly liked the camping example in the 2.0 explanation. It was clear, concise and informative. I think libaries currently will find them an excellent technical tool for book reviews and using the internet. Future use is up to the imagination.
